Day 1 Gift: Stone Pillow

It's not the most comfortable of gifts, but we don't often see the need for God when life is fluffy. Jacob was on the run for his life which was well deserved after backstabbing his brother not once but twice. Isn't it strange that this is when he saw the wonder of God? Not when you realize how desperate he was for God. Our desperation gives us a single minded focus on God. But once your eyes are adjusted, how much greater is the awareness of God in all circumstances instead of just our desperation.

Today's Verse: Genesis 28:16-17
Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!” But he was also afraid and said, “What an awesome place this is! It is none other than the house of God, the very gateway to heaven!”

Today's Prayer: When I seek God, I start with what He last told me. So thinking back to the beginning of the year, God told you "WONDER", as in, don't miss out on how crazy, wonderful God is. Don't lose that sense of awe and amazement at what God can do especially when it comes to loving you. I pray that you continue to be blown away by the wonder of an Almighty Creator that is breaking the world's template every day that He pours His love out on your. May you be in awe at the grace and majesty of Jesus Christ and the incomparable love He has for you. May you be floored by the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit spending every single moment with you in joy and peace. May you never lose your wonder of who God is and what He does.
