Taking on the world (John 7:7)

world hates me because i testify what it does is evil
Jesus' brothers ask him if he's going to the Feast of the Tabernacles. This festival's proper name is Sukkot (pronounced like sue-COAT. I won't even try the Yiddish pronunciation) and also goes by the name the Feast of Booths or the Feast of Ingathering. From the little research I've done, it is a remembrance of the desert wanderings and also kinda sounds like the Jewish version of Thanksgiving. So like I was saying, Jesus' brothers are asking him if he's going to “Thanksgiving” so he can show off his superpowers. Needless to say the brothers do not understand his ultimate purpose. Jesus' says he won't go and part of his reasoning summed up in this picture.

It's a pretty straightforward pictorial representation. In short, the world hates Jesus because he points out all of its shortcomings. Interestingly enough, Jesus does end up going to the festival in secret. That might be kinda fun to try to sneak into a holiday gathering without anyone knowing. Then I could eat the last slice of pie without getting caught. Of course my holidays are on the smaller scale so it would be hard to get away with unless all my friends and family got amnesia at the same time. Now that sounds like a party we'd never forget...once the amnesia clears up.

If you wear Groucho glasses to Thanksgiving this year:
